History and Tour of Christ Lutheran Church

While the pictures are loading let us give you brief history of our church.  In December of 1962 the American Mission Committee of the South Pacific Synod called Rev. Jerry Moe to establish a American Lutheran church Synod church in Las Vegas.  Pastor Moe selected the name Christ Lutheran Church and on May 9, 1963 a meeting of 24 interested people, was held at his home.  On May 12, 1963 the first service of Christ Lutheran Church was held at the Village Coffee Shop.  For ten months services and Sunday School were held here.  During the summer of 1963 parish workers spent two months canvassing the neighborhood for prospective members. On February 16, 1964 the first service was held on what is now the social hall.  The windows were not in, and there was no heat, but for the 116 people in attendance there was much joy!

We began worship in the present sanctuary on the Fall of 1986.  The stained glass windows were dedicated on May17, 1987.  The theme of the windows is the Church Calendar Year and were donated by members of Christ Lutheran Church.

The Children's Center Began in 1974 and the Prayer Garden was dedicated in 1997.   Now.........

The Steeple

The steeple of Christ Lutheran Church can be seen from U.S. 95 and at night the Neon Cross (Well it is Las Vegas) is there to remind all of our Gracious Lord's love. The "Bell (Cell) Tower" makes us visible from all directions.  It is the wishful thinking of the Webmaster that a carillon will be added to the tower in the future.
